What is your email team\u2019s production methodology?\u00a0\u00a0 Does your email strategy go something like this:<\/p>

The Plan\"email<\/h4>

The team starts off with a clear defined goal.\u00a0 What type of call-to-action do you want your subscriber to take?\u00a0 Who does this mailing go to?\u00a0 How many A\/B tests will be run?\u00a0 How will it be measured in terms of success or failure?<\/p>

Assign Steps for Success<\/h5>

Keep track of who does what and when it\u2019s supposed to be done: keep the team on\u00a0target to meet the deadlines.
Who is responsible for the list(s) you\u2019re working with?\u00a0 Are they clean and up to date?
Do you write the content and code the emails yourself or are your managing someone else?<\/p>

Define the Concept<\/h5>

Email creation can be complicated.\u00a0 Is content just as important as the colors and graphics you use?\u00a0 Whether you\u2019re writing the content yourself or editing the messages sent, the email should speak to the\u00a0audience, with a positive uplifting tone.\u00a0\u00a0 Keep the call-to-action clear.
The team may want to critique the\u00a0competitor\u2019s emails; discuss what are they doing right and what they are doing wrong. \u00a0Compare the findings with\u00a0your concept.<\/p>

Collaboration<\/h5>

If you have a team, make is easy to plan together.\u00a0 Create a discussion list<\/a>, with the same ESP you\u2019re mailing with.\u00a0\u00a0 A discussion list is an efficient way for your team to interact over email where they can share information and provide communication to their group members.<\/p>

Quality assurance<\/h5>

Review your completed email before you send them out.\u00a0 Does it have an unsubscribe link?\u00a0 Everything spelled correctly, sentence structure correct?\u00a0\u00a0 Does it follow your checklist? (You did create one right?)<\/p>

During the workflow process your team will probably find the biggest task is the design of the emails.\u00a0 There will be many tests and edits before the final design for each campaign is chosen.\u00a0\u00a0 And there are many ways to design an email\u00a0including\u00a0self-coding or templates, to using a program to layout your concept and images; i.e. Photoshop.\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure you block off the time needed to create the desired designs in order to keep on schedule.<\/p>

Defining your email marketing campaign strategy and goals will help guide the directions of your campaign and makes it easier to measure the success of your efforts.<\/p>

Easily create an excel check list for your team using some of the following headings:<\/h4>
  1. Date<\/strong>: October 1 2016<\/li>
  2. Assigned To<\/strong>:\u00a0 Angie in Sales<\/li>
  3. Goal<\/strong>: Clicks to our website to Sale landing page<\/li>
  4. Topic\/Subject<\/strong>:\u00a0 Sale of the Century<\/li>
  5. Target Audience<\/strong>: Anyone who purchased summer clothes in the last 60 days<\/li>
  6. List and Segments<\/strong>:\u00a0 Men, Women, Teens<\/li>
  7. Included Urls, Links and Forms<\/strong>:\u00a0 Landing page URL, set to track Refer a Friend. Link to preference page.<\/li>
  8. Social Media Links<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0 Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Google+<\/li>
  9. Design<\/strong>:\u00a0 1 HTML responsive. 3 columns, 2 graphics, Tahoma fonts, Red, White, Blue, 1 plain text email<\/li>
  10. A\/B Split Testing<\/strong><\/a>; Multiple tests simultaneously to a small sampling of members, including change to Subject Line, colors, fonts, time of day, position of graphics, different graphics.<\/li>
  11. A\/B Split Testing Results<\/strong>. More clicks on all blue with comic font emails sent on Monday at 3 pm.<\/li>
  12. Reports<\/strong>: How many Emails were sent, delivered, opened.\u00a0 Did the CTA work?<\/li>
  13. Analyze Reports<\/strong>:\u00a0 Open goals met?\u00a0 Click-through goals met?\u00a0 Bounced report reviewed and acted on.<\/li><\/ol>

    Any email campaign, big or small will be more successful when you define a\u00a0goal and plan the steps to reach it. \u00a0In other words, once you set your goals, define your strategy and plan your steps, a check list will help you keep on track. \u00a0I hope you found my checklist helpful.<\/p>
