Email authentication procedures are designed to provide email senders a way to take responsibility for the email they send. \u00a0These procedures give the email recipients (receiving ISPs) ways to authenticate\u00a0any senders email,\u00a0such as email coming from an \u00a0Email Service Provider, as it provides a clear sender identity. \u00a0When such procedures are in place an email may take the following route before it is read.<\/p>

      The receiving Mail Server<\/b><\/p>

      1. Processes the messages<\/li>
      2. Authenticates the sender\u2019s DNS entry using procedures such as DKIM<\/a><\/li>
      3. Validates the incoming message that sender is authorized to send the message<\/li>
      4. Processes the email using sender reputation, authentication and content filtering<\/li>
      5. Delivers messages in the recipients in- box, junk mail, or just block it<\/li><\/ol>

        Access the message<\/b><\/p>

        1. The recipient can now read the message.<\/li><\/ol>
